MAYOR NICK SACCO'S TEAM

CONTINUES TO DELIVER RESULTS!

KEEPING NORTH BERGEN AFFORDABLE

Mayor Sacco and the Board of Commissioners are keeping property taxes stable for homeowners and also protecting tenants with New Jersey’s strongest rent control law. Township finances are professionally managed and North Bergen’s excellent bond rating saves taxpayers millions. The Sacco Team has brought in smart, sustainable new development that generated over $4 million dollars in tax revenue in 2021 alone, helping keep property taxes stable and fund important services like public safety, recreation, and senior programs.

INVESTING IN PARKS AND RECREATION

Mayor Sacco and his team built the new Downtown Recreation Center and Library which features a full library space with study rooms and the latest available technology, an indoor basketball court with six hoops and running track, an outdoor fitness area, a rooftop turf practice field, and much more! Renovations were also recently completed at 10th Street Park, including a brand-new sprinkler park, swing sets and a shaded gazebo, and begun at the 46th Street Park with new playground equipment, an expanded splash park, new pedestrian walkways and parking lot. Plus, the Sacco Team built the new Downtown Park on Paterson Plank Road, and they will continue to invest in open space and recreational facilities.

MAKING SURE
OUR COMMUNITY
IS SAFE

Under Mayor Sacco’s leadership, North Bergen has developed New Jersey’s most diverse and effective police department. Our neighborhoods are safer than ever, with overall crime down over 30% in the last five years. Recently recognized as one of the best mid size urban police departments in the country, local officers are highly trained, well equipped and dedicated to protecting our community. Thanks to Mayor Sacco’s resident-only hiring policy, almost 70 percent of the NBPD is Hispanic.

PROVIDING
EXCELLENT
MUNICIPAL SERVICES

Senior citizen health, recreation and support programs and services are second to none in Hudson County. The North Bergen Health Department did an outstanding job providIng vaccines and protecting people during the pandemic. The Department of Public Works keeps our town clean and safe and takes pride in managing one of the best snow removal operations in the state.

IMPROVING PUBLIC EDUCATION

The Sacco Team has worked closely with the Board of Education to build the new North Bergen Junior High School and improve public schools throughout the community. Located at the former High Tech High School site on Tonnelle Avenue, the new school will allow the district to reduce class sizes in all neighborhood schools, and major improvements are being made to all other school buildings.

ADDING HUNDREDS
OF NEW PARKING SPACES

North Bergen has added over 650 new parking spaces through the addition of angled parking on major streets like Bergenline Ave and Broadway and the development of new parking lots all over town. It’s now easier for both residents and visitors to park in North Bergen, thanks to new technology upgrades which allow users to pay for parking right from their phone, as well as the successful Resident Parking Program that preserves neighborhood spaces for local residents. The Sacco Team is also mandating that all new residential developments include sufficient parking.
